Our Story

Back in 2021, in a small room filled with tangled wires, late-night ideas, and just enough optimism to ignore the smell of burnt circuits, Shobolinsky was born. No grand launch, no corporate sponsors just two people with a soldering iron, a dream, and a dangerously high tolerance for problem-solving under pressure.

What started as a bunch of “What if we tried this?” moments quickly escalated into a full-fledged engineering team. And by “engineering team,” we mean: building robots from scrap aluminum, testing them until smoke came out (intentionally... sometimes), and refusing to back down from any challenge, no matter how insane it sounded.

Over time, the team evolved. Projects got bigger. So did our toolbox. And in 2023, a new chapter began with the addition of Atena, mechanical mind, outreach guru, chaos manager, and certified Brainiac. Together with Kristof, the Electro Wizard, we found the perfect balance of “let’s just try it” and “hold on, I actually did the math.”

Fast-forward to today, and Shobolinsky has left its weird, wonderful mark on over 30 competitions across Romania and the world.

But Shobolinsky isn’t just about competing, we build, we fail, we rebuild, we laugh, we overthink things, then do them anyway. We’ve worked on dozens of side projects, from autonomous systems and IoT builds to creative outreach tools and mock circulatory systems for testing artificial hearts. (Yes, really, we’re weird like that.)

At the core of everything we do is this belief:

You don’t need a perfect lab to make something incredible. You just need curiosity, a few tools, and a team crazy enough to keep going when the 3D printer jams for the 6th time in a row.

So if you’re looking for sleek suits and corporate buzzwords, that’s not us.
